Air conditioning recharge (R12) 5 |
(5) The next step is to add extra refrigerant. The piercing valve was already attached to the refrigerant canister when it arrived. All I had to do was to screw the connecting hose on to the valve. (6) Next connect the hose from the refrigerant canister to the low pressure service valve on the compressor (labelled “SUC”). I found it easiest to disconnect the HT lead for cylinder 4 from the direct ignition module to gain access to the Schrader valve. Remember to label the HT leads and note their connection to the direct ignition module if you disconnect more than one lead. (7) Note that I chose to add refrigerant with the engine off. However, you may need to add refrigerant with the engine running if the pressure in the canister falls - with the canister connected to the low pressure service valve the compressor will suck refrigerant into the system. (8) Then open the valve on the refrigerant canister. There is no gauge, so I fully opened the valve for 10 seconds before closing it again. |

Open the valve on the refrigerant and run in 10 seconds worth... |
